Dr Rose Sutherland
Rose studied at Otago University and holds a post-graduate certificate in women’s health. She has worked in a hospital environment before embarking on a role in rural general practice.
Rose’s interests are women’s and children’s health. Rose grew up in North Canterbury and has recently returned to Christchurch to spend more time with her family. She enjoys outdoor pursuits which include skiing, netball and relaxes by reading and painting.
Dr Mary-Anne Bellamy
Mary Anne has been a partner at Hoon Hay Medical Centre for over 30 years. She has a particular interest in women’s health.
Dr Rod Kirkwood
Rod has been a partner for over 20 years. He has special interests in older persons health, skin cancer recognition and minor surgery.
Dr Caroline Gibb
Caroline has been an associate at Hoon Hay from 1997. She has special interests in women’s health, children’s medicine and minor surgery.
Dr Damian Wilkinson
Damian has been an associate at the medical centre since 2015. He has special interests in chronic disease management.
Dr Julie Gilmore
Julie has been an associate at Hoon Hay from 2014. Her special interests are women’s and family health and well being.
Dr Sarah Barnes
Sarah joined the medical centre as an associate in 2017. Her special interests are in skin cancer recognition, women’s health, gynaecology and paediatrics.
Dr Peter Morrison
Peter first worked as an associate at Hoon Hay in 2011. He has special interests in Child health, older persons health, musculo-skeletal medicine and minor surgery.
Nurses
Mary
Mary is our nurse co-ordinator. She has been part of the practice nursing team for over 25 years and her role ensures the continued efficiency and clinical development of our nurses.
Stephanie
Steph has been a practice nurse for over 30 years and been at Hoon Hay medical centre for over 15 years. She has a wide skill set with a particular interest in travel medicine and is a certified smear taker.
Lorraine
Lorraine joined the Hoon Hay team in early 2019. She has a wide skill set and is a certified smear taker
Linda
With over 30 years of practice nursing experience, Linda has a passion for patient education. Her special interests include child health assessments, diabetes and older persons health.
Sue
Sue has been at Hoon Hay for over 20 years. She is an experienced nurse in all areas of family care with a particular interest in travel medicine.

Kate
Kate joined the team in March this year and works with us around her study commitments, as she completes her Bachelor of Nursing degree.
Jill
Jill joined the team in 2016. Her role is to support the doctors, nursing staff and patients. She is trained in blood taking, cardiographs, 24 hour blood pressure monitoring set – up, tympanometry and may also assist the doctors with some procedures or act as a chaperone if required.
