Pamela
Pamela joined our team as our Nurse Practitioner in May 2021. She works two days each week, usually Wednesday and Friday plus alternate Thursday mornings. Patients may be able to book to see Pamela instead of a GP. Pamela hails from Scotland where she spent many years working in the various specialities in the NHS. She was awarded Scottish Nurse of the Year in 2005 in recognition of service development. Since moving to New Zealand Pamela has predominantly worked as a practice nurse in a rural GP practice. She is trained as a primary responder to medical emergencies and has many skills to offer when caring for patients who present as acutely unwell. She specialises in chronic care conditions such as diabetes, heart failure and COPD. Pamela has trained hard to become a nurse practitioner which gives her the scope to take a patient history, assess, diagnose and treat conditions. She also orders laboratory, radiology, spirometry and cardiac investigations tests and she prescribes medications.
