From Thursday 21 September, 24 Hour Surgery will close to patients each evening between 10pm and 8am the following day. This is a temporary solution to their current nursing shortages and they will be returning to 24 hour service as soon as they are able to safely do so. (They will also be closed from midnight to 8am this Friday 15 September and Saturday 16 September). They will be closed from midnight to 8.00am each night. They will close their doors at 10pm (or prior subject to number of patients waiting) to ensure they can see all patients before their staff finish their shift at midnight. The 24 Hour Surgery are working closely with health system partners, including Te Whatu Ora, St John and Healthline, to ensure that their services are prepared for this change in opening hours. They ask people to visit yourbestcare.co.nz to learn more about the healthcare choices available to them, including virtual providers. Those with urgent medical concerns should call Healthline on 0800 611 116. In an emergency, always call 111 or go to the Emergency Department at Christchurch Hospital. When Hoon Hay Medical Centre is closed you can seek phone advice from our after hours phone provider by ringing our usual number. You can also consider using Practice Plus for virtual consults when we are closed, click on the Practice Plus link on our website for more information.
